HOW I GOT THIS IDEA OF CROCK POT MARINARA SAUCE?
Are you tired of buying a jar of sauce from the market? What if you never need it again? Shocked???? I was shocked too when I was told the same. But now, I’m almost positive about Crock Pot Marinara Sauce, if you have a choice in the matter. There is no sugar or any kind of oil added to this so in this way it becomes extremely suitable for weight watchers weight loss diets.
Its flavour is pleasant more likely a jar of sauce you bought from the market. I’de been using these jars of sauce for years but now when I started using this sauce I found nothing like the unfamiliar taste. One more thing, I have been using these jars but never thought to make myself. It shows that I am not much creative but still I prepared this sauce after proper instructions given to me by my friend. Even I didn’t know if it was possible to make the sauce at home.
Now at this time, I have forgotten if jarred sauces were used to be here. That’s amazing. Like other people I don’t have time to make fresh sauce for every meal so, I usually made this sauce into a bulk freezer recipe.
Let me tell you my practice after I have made the sauce. I usually take two cups into quart freezer bags, squeeze out as much air as possible, lay them flat, and stack them in the freezer. If you follow this recipe exactly as I have written down you may have about 5 freezer bags with 2 cups of sauce in each bag.
Here is another tip for you. If you wish that your sauce should be chunky, then you must leave it the way it is when it comes out of the crockpot.
But as far as I am concerned I like it to be more smooth, so I either run it through a blender or use the immersion blender when it’s cool.
You can use this sauce in almost all recipes that you think need a sauce. You can use this Marinara Sauce for pizzas too since it’s a just tomato.
Most importantly If you are on Weight Watchers Program you can use it because its zero smart points for as much as you want.

SLOW COOKER CROCK POT MARINARA SAUCE RECIPE
- Cook Time 8 hours
- Prep Time 5 minutes
- Total Time 8 hours 5 minutes
- 3- 28 oz cans crushed tomatoes
- 2- 14.5 oz cans diced tomatoes
- 5 garlic cloves minced (or about 3 tbs already minced garlic)
- 1 large onion chopped
- 2 tbsp oregano, dried
- 2 tbs basil, dried I also use fresh when I have some from the garden)
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes more or less depending on the level of spice you’d like
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
Mix all of your ingredients in a 6-quart slow cooker. Cook on low for 8-10 hours to really get all of those lovely flavours to mingle and fall in love with each other. Let cool completely before adding to freezer bags.
Optional: For a smoother sauce, use an immersion hand blender, or put in a blender. Blend until desired consistency.
